Guest speaker is Angelo Anderson who will present 鈥淔reedom Reclamation: Answering the Call Then, Now and Always.鈥 Anderson is a devoted husband, father, nonprofit leader and community advocate from Clarion County, Pennsylvania. He has been married to his wife, Amy Anderson, for 16 years and is the proud father of two children, Angelia and Amelio. Angelo serves as an elder at Zion Church and is a graduate of Clarion University.
For more than 24 years, Angelo has worked in human services supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. His passion for serving others led him to found the Winds of Trade Community Center, an early expression of his vision to strengthen communities through compassion, connection and collaboration.
Today, Angelo serves as the vision caster and founder of Love INC of Clarion County, where he works to unite local churches, volunteers and community partners to serve neighbors through practical help, relational ministry and transformational support.
Juneteenth began in Texas. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was issued Jan. 1, 1863, slaves in Texas didn鈥檛 receive word until two-and-a-half years later, on June 19, 1865, that they were free.
Dr. Brenda Sanders D茅d茅, associate vice president emeritus, Clarion University, organized Clarion鈥檚 first Juneteenth celebration in 2003. The day has been recognized as a federal holiday since 2021.
